The PV sites will generate energy, which will be transmitted to the TPSS and stored in co-located BESS units. The BESS units will dispatch energy during peak demand periods to optimize costs and provide backup power, ensuring up to six hours of continuous operation during electric utility service disruptions.
While PV sites will serve as the primary power source, each TPSS will remain connected to the grid to supplement energy during periods of limited solar production, ensuring uninterrupted service.
This configuration enhances traction power reliability while enabling the Authority to (1) advance its sustainability commitments, (2) achieve greater energy resilience, and (3) minimize reliance on third-party led grid infrastructure upgrades.
